Can you withdraw a Kalshi bonus? Credit, cash and holds explained

Understand why a Kalshi bonus balance may not be withdrawable: trading-credit conditions, Predictions versus perps, open positions and deposit holds.

A Kalshi bonus appearing in your account does not mean the same amount is ready to send to your bank. First establish what was credited, which product received it, and which restrictions remain. Then check the withdrawal screen for the cash actually available.

The guidance here was checked against Kalshi's help pages on October 21, 2026. Your specific program terms and account restrictions still govern. If the reward has not been credited, use the bonus claim guide first.

Separate four different balances

For troubleshooting, keep four concepts apart: a cash deposit, promotional credit, money committed to open positions, and settled cash available for withdrawal. A headline account value can include items that are not immediately withdrawable.

Consider a purely hypothetical account with $40 in cash, $20 of restricted credit and a position currently valued at $30. Adding those figures gives $90 of displayed value in this example; it does not establish $90 of available cash. The position must be handled according to the market and the credit according to the promotion. The account's actual withdrawal screen determines the amount available.

This distinction also explains why “I received it” and “I withdrew it” describe different milestones. Keep the credit record and withdrawal record separate when checking your result.

Read the credit conditions for your program

Kalshi's referral FAQ says rewards can be trading credits with restrictions and that some require further trading on an eligible product before withdrawal is possible. This is separate from the activity required to earn the bonus initially.

One concrete document is the published $55 Predictions promotion at kalshi.com/tc/55. Its terms distinguish earning the reward from trading an amount equal to the credit after receipt. They also restrict the credit to Predictions and give unused credit a seven-day use window. Those details describe that document, not a universal rule for every link or account.

Before relying on a reward, find its own terms and identify the qualification requirement, any post-credit requirement and the credit expiry. If the wording does not clearly explain how proceeds are treated, resolve it with official support before trading for the sake of a bonus.

Check whether this is Predictions or perps

Kalshi's perps promotion page says promotional credits land in the perps account and cannot move between perps and Predictions. It also distinguishes the non-withdrawable credit itself from winnings produced with it.

A perps credit therefore should not be interpreted using an event-contract example from another promotion. Perpetual futures introduce different mechanics; an incentive is not a reason to enter a product you do not understand. Check the product named in the offer before evaluating its requirements.

Inspect open positions and deposit holds separately

Money in an open position is not available to withdraw simply because an account has a positive value. An early sale depends on the market and available counterparties, and its proceeds depend on the executed price and fees. Waiting for settlement and selling early are different routes with different outcomes.

Deposit security holds are another issue. Kalshi's Security Holds page says timing depends on the funding and withdrawal methods and is measured from the deposit's exact time. It directs users to the withdrawal screen for the release time applicable to their own funds.

Do not assume an old forum post's hold period applies today. Also distinguish the release of a hold from the processing time of a withdrawal after it has been submitted. Those are separate stages.

Evaluate the full cost of qualifying

A requirement to trade a certain amount is an activity threshold, not a guaranteed return of that amount. Fees, spreads, execution prices and losses can reduce the benefit. Repeatedly buying and selling just to chase a reward can incur costs without producing the result you expected.

Use the fees and slippage guide and the payout calculator to understand an illustrative trade. Neither tool establishes promotion eligibility. Avoid treating a high advertised bonus as compensation for an unsuitable trade.

When to ask support

If the credit conditions appear complete but the withdrawal amount remains unclear, gather the offer name, credit issue date, relevant transaction times and the exact restriction shown. Ask whether the remaining condition concerns promotional credit, unsettled cash, a deposit hold or an account review.

For a new offer, the Kalshi promo and referral guide explains what to inspect before registration. An amount such as “$50 bonus” is only useful after you know which balance receives it and what can happen before it becomes usable cash.
